Software updates

Changelog

Every Pixel display updates itself over the air — new firmware downloads and installs from the System screen, no cables or laptops on the dock. Below is the full release history. The version you're running is shown on the boot splash and the Home screen.

  1. v3.671 Aug 2026Latest
    • New Scan for WiFi networks from the System screen — pick your boat's network from a list instead of typing the name by hand.
  2. v3.64 – v3.6623 Jul 2026
    • New Night brightness now depends on your panel. Outdoor panels can dim all the way down to 1 for a genuinely dark night setting; indoor panels stop at 4, where they stay readable instead of going muddy. Your own brightness offset still applies on top.
    • Fixed The gentler dimming curve is applied to outdoor panels only — indoor panels keep the response they always had.
  3. v3.6320 Jul 2026
    • New Tune auto-brightness yourself. The light diagnostics page now has +/- buttons for the dimming curve and the point at which the display goes to full brightness. Your settings are saved on the display.
  4. v3.59 – v3.6220 Jul 2026
    • Fixed The display no longer dims in bright sunlight. In strong light the sensor saturated and the panel read it as darkness — exactly backwards. Brightness now tracks correctly from a dark cabin to direct sun, and reaches true full brightness at the top.
    • New Support for an external TSL2561 light sensor on HW2 for a wider light range. Without one, the display uses the sensor built into the board.
  5. v3.46 – v3.5820 Jul 2026
    • Fixed Auto-brightness on HW2 works. It had been stuck at maximum and never followed the ambient light. The display now uses the light sensor built into the board, so no extra sensor is needed, and dims to a true night minimum.
    • New A light readout page in the browser shows the measured light level and the resulting panel brightness, so you can check auto-brightness by eye.
    • Note These versions were a run of diagnostic releases while the sensor fault was tracked down on real hardware. They are listed together because only the outcome affects you.
  6. v3.4512 Jul 2026
    • Fixed True wind direction is no longer corrupted by an empty MWD sentence. Some instruments send the true-wind sentence with the direction field left blank; the display was reading the next column and showing a wrong direction and speed. Direction is now taken only from a real value.
  7. v3.4412 Jul 2026
    • Fixed Speed through water no longer reads half of the real speed. With two devices reporting speed and one of them sitting at a constant zero — a dead paddle wheel next to a working gateway — the display averaged the two. It now locks onto the source with real speed, and switches automatically if that source goes quiet or sticks at zero.
  8. v3.4311 Jul 2026
    • Fixed Display lines repaint more reliably — swapping data types between lines updates both at once, and the SOG trend arrow refreshes even while the speed digits are steady.
  9. v3.4211 Jul 2026
    • Fixed Choosing a different reading for a display line now repaints it immediately. A reading that is not arriving on your network shows just its label with a blank value instead of keeping the previous reading's digits — the number appears the moment data arrives.
  10. v3.4111 Jul 2026
    • Fixed Ground wind direction could read wrong for minutes after a tack or gybe. The display now uses the wind direction broadcast by your gateway (MWD) when available — it stays correct straight through turns.
  11. v3.402 Jul 2026
    • Update-system verification release; no functional changes.
  12. v3.392 Jul 2026
    • New Redesigned configuration page — loads faster, shows live values over a permanent connection, and every setting applies instantly as you change it. No Save button needed.
  13. v3.382 Jul 2026
    • Fixed The apparent wind arrow could point to the wrong side in some conditions.
    • Fixed Smoother averaged readings after long runtimes (internal timing rework).
  14. v3.371 Jul 2026
    • New Configurable NMEA UDP port — run several NMEA sources on one network without collisions (default stays 2000).
  15. v3.3620 Jun 2026
    • New Support for 64×128 1/16-scan LED panels (panel type 3).
  16. v3.3515 Jun 2026
    • New Support for an additional outdoor LED panel type (ICN2037 driver).
  17. v3.349 Jun 2026
    • Picking a data type already shown on another line now swaps the two lines instead of blocking the choice — all six lines stay unique, nothing is lost.
  18. v3.339 Jun 2026
    • New Each of the six display lines now shows a unique reading — no accidental duplicates.
  19. v3.328 Jun 2026
    • Fixed Depth could stay blank on some installations — now displays reliably on every NMEA gateway.
    • Fixed Speed Through Water (STW) could read too high on some gateways — now always shown correctly, in knots.
  20. v3.317 Jun 2026
    • Moved to the new update server. Your display migrates itself automatically — nothing to do.
  21. v3.305 Jun 2026
    • Fixed An update could be reverted on the next restart — updates now stick.
  22. v3.293 Jun 2026
    • Stability fix that could make the built-in configuration page display incorrectly.
  23. v3.283 Jun 2026
    • Faster, more reliable diagnostic log upload to support.
  24. v3.273 Jun 2026
    • New True heading is now derived from your GPS course as a fallback when no compass heading is available.
  25. v3.263 Jun 2026
    • True wind direction is now referenced to true heading for a more accurate reading.
  26. v3.253 Jun 2026
    • The true-heading field now shows true heading instead of magnetic.
  27. v3.2428 May 2026
    • Public release; user manuals updated (English & Russian).
  28. v3.2328 May 2026
    • New Automatic brightness on HW2 displays via the built-in light sensor.
  29. v3.2228 May 2026
    • Support for both hardware versions (HW1 and HW2) from one update channel.
  30. v3.2027 May 2026
    • More reliable diagnostic capture.
  31. v3.1927 May 2026
    • New On-demand NMEA debug capture & upload to help diagnose installation issues.
  32. v3.1827 May 2026
    • Fixed Flickering when True Wind Speed (TWS) and Gust Wind Speed (GWS) are shown together.
  33. v3.1726 May 2026
    • Redesigned update screen with live status; support for remotely-initiated updates and downgrades.
  34. v3.1626 May 2026
    • The display now reports its hardware version, so it only ever receives firmware built for your board.
  35. v3.1525 May 2026
    • New Safer updates: updates now apply on demand instead of automatically at power-on.
  36. v3.1422 May 2026
    • Maintenance and stability improvements.
  37. v3.1222 May 2026
    • New Outdoor twin-panel mode with per-panel 90° rotation.
  38. v3.1122 May 2026
    • Maintenance build.
  39. v3.1020 May 2026
    • Maintenance build.
  40. v3.0920 May 2026
    • Stability and code cleanup — the first build delivered over the air.
  41. v3.01 – v3.0819–20 May 2026
    • Initial v3 releases: multi-network Wi-Fi, redesigned web interface, over-the-air updates, indoor/outdoor panel selection, and per-tack heel-compensated boatspeed (STW). USB-flashed; predate the update server.
