Changelog

The Gateway updates itself over the air — new firmware downloads and installs from the Setup tab, with no cables and no laptop on the pontoon. Since v0.97 it can also update itself unattended, and only ever while the boat is stopped with the anchor watch off. Below is the full release history; the version you are running is shown in the page header.

  1. v1.0223 Aug 2026Latest
    • New Record 10 seconds of your NMEA 2000 bus with one button on the Gateway's own page, with a progress bar while it runs. The capture is uploaded so it can be replayed and analysed — the quickest way to show us what your instruments are actually sending when something reads wrong.
    • New The same capture can be requested remotely: the boat records it on its next check-in, under way included, and uploads it by itself.
  2. v1.00 – v1.0120 – 21 Aug 2026
    • Fixed Changing the anchor radius while already armed now re-arms straight away with the new distance, instead of quietly keeping the old one. Two quick presses in the same direction no longer lose the second one.
    • Fixed Each unit now identifies itself to the cloud, so two Gateways on one boat can no longer be mistaken for each other.

    • New A failed update undoes itself. New firmware is accepted as good only after WiFi has been stable for 30 seconds with the bus running and no restart loop; otherwise the Gateway returns to the previous version on its own.

    • New Anchor watch gets its own tab, with 20/30/50 m presets or your own distance. Your last choice is remembered.

    • New Automatic updates. The Gateway installs a new version by itself — but only while the boat is stopped and the anchor watch is off, so an update never happens under way or while you are relying on the alarm. On by default; there is a checkbox on the Cloud tab.
  6. v0.95 – v0.9618 – 20 Aug 2026
    • New Anchor watch: arm and disarm from the Gateway itself. While armed it reports position every few seconds, and a drag, a lost link or a lost GPS fix is shown as a red banner.
    • Note Aid to navigation only — never a substitute for keeping an anchor watch yourself.
  7. v0.93 – v0.941 Aug 2026
    • Fixed Voyages recorded out of WiFi range are no longer lost. Three faults found by soak-testing on real hardware: a restart could cost about two hours of race data (now at most a few seconds), catching up after a long passage needed hours of continuous WiFi (now minutes), and the live buffer could silently drop its oldest records while a backlog was uploading.
    • New Recordings are compressed before storage — measured 5.8× on real one-second race data — so far more of a passage fits on the device.
    • New Full settings backup and restore: sails, calibration, learned polar, polar library and the Cloud Tracks token.
  8. v0.85 – v0.9030 – 31 Jul 2026
    • Fixed True heading now survives a GPS dropout. On a bus where true heading is calculated from the compass plus magnetic variation, losing the GPS took the variation with it — and with it true wind direction, the laylines and the wind arrow on the cloud map. The variation is now remembered, including across a restart.
    • Fixed Depth is measured from the right place. The Gateway now applies the offset your sounder publishes, so depth reads under the keel rather than under the transducer.
    • Fixed An instrument that changes its address on the bus can no longer freeze that reading until the next restart.
    • New An onboard clock keeps real time without WiFi or GPS, so a cold start at sea still timestamps correctly.
  9. v0.80 – v0.8426 – 28 Jul 2026
    • New Race mode: one-second track recording uploaded in bursts for race scoring, switching itself off after five hours stopped. Enable it under Setup › Cloud Tracks.
    • New Self-healing WiFi — the Gateway reconnects on its own after the network drops.
    • Fixed A failed depth reading is no longer shown as 167772 m, and a dead speed sensor no longer takes true wind down with it.
  10. v0.76 – v0.7919 – 20 Jul 2026
    • New Cloud Tracks: the Gateway can log your voyages and nearby AIS traffic to your Pixelmast account, storing them on board while you are out of range and uploading when you return. Off until you enter a pairing token.
    • New While you are stopped, position and weather can report every 10 or 30 minutes instead of every minute.
    • New The clock is taken from the boat's own GPS, so voyages are timestamped correctly with no internet at all.
  11. v0.68 – v0.7518 Jul 2026
    • New Your sailed polar, recorded automatically. A new Recorded view draws the polar your boat actually sails, as a split rose — apparent wind on one side, true wind on the other — and you can overlay it on the design polar or delete a bad bin with a tap.
    • Fixed Learning pauses while the engine runs, and needs at least 1 knot, so motoring and dock current can no longer poison the table.
  12. v0.60 – v0.6717 – 18 Jul 2026
    • New Instruments snap through a tack. Wind and heading now settle on the new tack in about half a second instead of crawling for the whole averaging window, and the response is adjustable per reading.
    • New Heel against ORC target, with per-sail recommended-heel grids and a ten-minute heel strip chart.
    • New The Tactical tab splits into Dial, Wind, Heel, Numbers and Speed sub-tabs, and the tab bar stays put while you scroll.
  13. v0.50 – v0.5917 Jul 2026
    • New Tap any instrument to open it full screen — dials, numbers and position. Depth becomes an echo-sounder view with the seabed profile, and speed gets its own history graph.
    • New Sources tab: scan the bus, see each sender's model and manufacturer rather than a bare address, read its raw values, and choose which one feeds each reading. Senders that are switched off disappear from the list; a chosen sender that goes offline is shown in red.
    • New Position in classic marine format, degrees and decimal minutes.
  14. v0.44 – v0.4917 Jul 2026
    • New Tactical dial: a bow-up rotating compass showing apparent and true wind, the ground-wind shift sector, current and leeway.
    • New Wind-shift history as a vertical strip chart with up to 24 hours kept on board, and your own viewing window.
  15. v0.34 – v0.4311 – 17 Jul 2026
    • Fixed Calibration could be lost after a restart once the settings store filled up. Large data moved to its own storage area, with automatic migration — wind and speed calibration now persist.
    • New Speed calibration by heel angle, with a finer grid at the low angles where it matters, and a Start/Stop button so motoring in waves does not pollute the table.
    • New Ground wind is recomputed continuously in the true-heading frame, so it no longer freezes or reads wrong through a turn.
  16. v0.25 – v0.3330 Jun – 10 Jul 2026
    • New Wired NMEA 0183 in and out over the onboard RS485 port, with selectable baud rate and routing to the N2K bus or to WiFi. Off by default.
    • New The Gateway publishes its own corrected instruments back onto NMEA 2000 and 0183 — wind, heading, speed through water, course and speed over ground — so your plotter can source-select the calibrated values.
    • New Per-reading averaging (mean, weighted or median, window up to 30 s) with proper circular maths on angles.
    • New Updates install without blocking, with a progress bar and a watchdog, and three quick power cycles perform a full factory reset.
    • New Your own device name, so the Gateway answers at yourname.local.
  17. v0.18 – v0.2427 – 30 Jun 2026
    • New The data page redesigned as marine instruments, with live wind arrows and the apparent wind angle large in the centre of the dial.
    • New Ground wind and a wind-shift strip on the wind dial, with a selectable 2–30 minute history window driving mean, shift and oscillation.
